The Ongoing Struggle

“…our government, National and State, must be freed from the sinister influence or control of special interests.” “…so now the great special business interests too often control and corrupt the men and methods of government for their own profit. We must drive the special interests out of politics. That is one of our tasks to-day. Every special interest is entitled to justice--full, fair, and complete…” “For every special interest is entitled to justice, but not one is entitled to a vote in Congress, to a voice on the bench, or to representation in any public office. The Constitution guarantees protection to property, and we must make that promise good. But it does not give the right of suffrage to any corporation.”

~ President Theodore Roosevelt: quotes from a speech given in Osawatomie, Kansas, August 31, 1910

Thoughts - The amount of money that goes into political campaigns is staggering.  I am learning firsthand that this money is not so much from individual citizens, but from special interests that may not serve our society’s best interests.  These words were spoken by Teddy Roosevelt over a hundred and thirteen years ago, and we are still wrestling with this problem.  Please help me solve this problem by supporting my campaign and forwarding this post to your friends and neighbors.
